Welcome to the website of The Woolston and Bursledon Folk Club. We meet on most Sundays at The Bursledon Village Hall, Long Lane, Bursledon, Hampshire SO31 8BZ.
The club was originally the Woolston Folk Club and was founded in October 1986 and has had various incarnations and venues before we came to our current venue in Bursledon.
The club has a membership but non-members are always welcome to come along and join us.
On Singaround/Session Nights, Open Stage/’Come all ye’ and A Spotlight On evenings there will be a jug collection to cover the cost of the hall and club expenses.
For Feature Nights there is normally a charge of £3 (or as published on the website or Facebook).
On Guest Nights and Concerts there is a three level charge system where non members pay full price, concessions receive a discount and members receive a further discount and will be advertised, for example, as: £6/£5.50/£5.
SINGAROUND / SESSION NIGHT
Informal evenings where anyone may sing a song, play a tune or tell a story from their seat. In fact Anything Goes! Songs or tunes where others can join in often make for a lively evening!
OPEN STAGE ‘COME ALL YE’
Evenings when performers deliver a short set of two or three songs/tunes from the stage area.
A SPOTLIGHT ON…
A singaround / session night with a spotlight on two of our club members or regulars who will each present an extended set of about 20 minutes each.
An ‘open stage come all ye’ evening which features one of the club regulars or members who will present two extended sets of about 20/25 minutes during the evening.
A national (sometimes international, sometimes local) professional artiste is booked to perform at the club for about half the evening.
SPECIAL GUEST NIGHTS
A “special guest” who will be supported by pre-arranged “support acts”. Admission to these evenings is generally by Advance Ticket.
Special concert evenings where the entire evening is devoted to a performance by our invited guests.
